KIEL BASEBALL CLUB FAMILY CONCESSION STAND VOLUNTEER HOURS POLICY

The intent of this policy is to encourage families to help staff the concession stand. The Kiel Baseball Club (KBC) is a volunteer run organization. We require the families of the players to volunteer in support of a successful organization. The following is the volunteer policy as created February 20, 2014.

 1. At sign up, a “volunteer deposit check (or cash)” of $50 is required for each family that has a player(s) in a traveling league program or families with a player(s) in the Kiel City Youth League Coed 1st-3rd Grade division. This check will be held (not cashed) until the hour requirements have been satisfied and the jersey has been cleaned and returned. No “volunteer deposit check” is required for families with a player(s) ONLY in the Coed Pre-K & Kindergarten division.

 2. There is a minimum requirement of four (4) volunteer hours per player family for players in the traveling league program and/or the Kiel City Youth League Coed 1st-3rd Grade division per season. There are no volunteer hours required for families with a player(s) ONLY in the Coed Pre-K & Kindergarten division. If this criterion is not met after the fall clean-up day, the volunteer check/cash will be deposited by the club.

You must be scheduled for your volunteer spot by May 31st, 2017 or it will be assumed that you are planning to forfeit your volunteer check/cash and it will be deposited by the club.  All open volunteer spots will be reviewed on June 1st where individual teams may be assigned to cover open dates/games.

 3. An on-line volunteer sign up site will be used for scheduling the volunteer shifts. A link can be found on the KBC website, http://www.kielbaseballclub.org. It is the volunteer’s responsibility to fulfill their hours. If for any reason they cannot make the times they are scheduled for, it is the volunteer’s responsibility to find a replacement. Should no one show up for the hours that the volunteer was scheduled, the deposit check may be forfeited.

 4. The hours are scheduled on a shift basis, consisting of four (4) hours. Should the game(s) run long or help is still needed, you will be expected to stay and help even if it were to put you over (4) hour. Should you leave, you may not receive credit for your shift.

 5. In the event a game(s) is cancelled due to weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances, the families originally scheduled to work will be required to find another open spot to work.

 6. Volunteer Qualifications: must be 18 years or older.

 7. Volunteer Exemptions are the traveling league team head coach.  Kiel City Youth League Coed 1st – 3rd grade head coaches and Kindergarten Baseball program leader.

 8. Some other options available to fulfill hours include but are not limited to Spring Clean Up day, Fall Clean Up day, annual Trivia contest, and volunteering at the Kiel picnic.

Again, the intent of this policy is to encourage families to help staff the concession stand. Profits from the concession stand help to offset the operating cost of the club, which in turn helps to keep the registration cost affordable.  The club recognizes that there may be some instances where families cannot fulfill their volunteer hours, if this should be the case; please notify the club president or treasure as soon as possible to work out an arrangement.
