KIEL BASEBALL CLUB FAMILY CONCESSION STAND VOLUNTEER HOURS POLICY

The intent of this policy is to encourage families to help staff the concession stand. The Kiel Baseball Club (KBC) is a volunteer-run organization. We require the families of the players to volunteer in support of a successful organization. The following Volunteer Policy was created February 20, 2014:

 1. At sign up, an online credit card “volunteer deposit” of $50 is required from each family that has a player(s) in a traveling league program or families with a player(s) in the Kiel City Youth League Coed 1st-3rd Grade division. This deposit will be held until the hour requirements have been satisfied. When the required hours have been worked, the $50 deposit will be returned in either cash or check form.  No “volunteer deposit” is required for families with a player(s) ONLY in the Coed Pre-K & Kindergarten division.

 2. There is a minimum requirement of four (4) volunteer hours per player family for players in the traveling league program and/or the Kiel City Youth League Coed 1st-3rd Grade division per season. There are no volunteer hours required for families with a player(s) ONLY in the Coed Pre-K & Kindergarten division.

 3. You must be scheduled for your volunteer hours/spot by May 31st of the current year,or it will be assumed that you are planning to forfeit your volunteer deposit and it will not be returned unless arrangements are made by you with the KBC President. All open volunteer spots will be reviewed on June 1st where individual teams may be assigned to cover open dates/games.

 4. An online volunteer sign up site will be used for scheduling the volunteer shifts. A link can be found on the KBC website: http://www.kielbaseballclub.org. It is the volunteer’s responsibility to fulfill their hours. If for any reason they cannot make the times they are scheduled for, it is the volunteer’s responsibility to find a replacement. Should no one show up for the hours that the volunteer was scheduled, the deposit may be forfeited.

 5. The hours are scheduled on a shift basis, consisting off our (4) hours. Should the game(s) run long or help is still needed, volunteers are expected to stay and help even the time were to exceed four (4) hours. Should you leave, you may not receive credit for your shift.

 6. In the event a game(s) is cancelled due to weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances, the families originally scheduled to work will be required to find another open spot to work.

 7. Volunteer Qualifications: Volunteers must be 18 years or older to qualify for credit toward the volunteer hours. Additionally, due to alcohol being served, no one under the age of 16 will be allowed in the concession stand. An exception to the age limit may be granted on a case-by-case basis if youth volunteer hours are requested from KBC.

 8. Volunteer Exemptions:  Traveling Team Head Coach,Kiel City Youth League Program Leader, Kindergarten Baseball Program Leader, and Kiel Baseball Club Officer.

 9. Some other options available to fulfill hours include but are not limited to:Spring Clean-Up day,Field Maintenance, and Fall Clean-Up day.

Again, the intent of this policy is to encourage families to help staff the concession stand. Profits from the concession stand help to offset the operating cost of the club, which in turn helps to keep the registration cost affordable. The club recognizes that there may be some instances where families cannot fulfill their volunteer hours; if this should be the case, please notify the club president or treasurer as soon as possible to work out an arrangement.
